8 N North Korean Fisherman Found On The Shore of Japan

Thursday, November 24, 2017, Japanese authorities found 8 men washed ashore in the northeastern Japan prefecture of Akita.

According to Kyodo News, the eight fishermen had left North Korea to fish but were cast adrift due to an engine failure. After they landed in Japan, Japanese residents were little anxious due to men ringing their doorbells with an “incomprehensible language”.

The police noticed they were from North Korea with the word “Chongjin” was written, which is a city in North Korea.

It’s also been reported that the 8 men want to return to North Korea, I’m assuming it probably has to do with the harsh punishments that their family will receive for defecting. Here’s an article on what happens DailyNK.
